Last updated July 2026. The short version: we only take what we need to get your order to you.
Who we are
megems Ltd, London ("megems", "we", "us") is the data controller for the personal data collected through megems.com. You can reach us at any time at hello@megems.com.
What we collect
- Order details — your name, email, delivery address and what you bought, so we can fulfil your order.
- Payment details — handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
- Browsing preferences — the pieces you view are stored in your own browser (localStorage) to power "picked for you" recommendations. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us.
- Support messages — anything you send us by email or social media.
- Analytics — Google Analytics (GA4) collects anonymised usage data such as pages visited, approximate location and device type, so we can see what is working. Google processes this under its own privacy terms.
Who we share it with
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Our fulfilment partners (CJ Dropshipping for UK orders, Nihao for US orders) — they receive your name and delivery address, nothing else.
- Vercel — hosts this website and processes standard server logs.
- Google — analytics, as described above.
We never sell your data, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers.
Cookies and storage
Google Analytics sets a small number of cookies (such as _ga) to distinguish visits; you can block them in your browser settings or with Google's opt-out add-on without affecting checkout. Beyond that we use your browser's localStorage — not cookies — for your bag, your region preference (so prices show in your currency) and your browsing recommendations. Clearing your browser storage resets all of it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us at any time to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email hello@megems.com and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Retention
We keep order records for up to 6 years for tax and accounting purposes, then delete them. Support emails are kept for 12 months.
